Healthy Fruit & Nut Granola

this is going to be a quick post because i have quite a bit of things to finish ((~:

yesterday i made some granola for my family. a huggge batch of it, too. this granola cuts 50calories of oil and sugar that is usually found in regular, store-bought granola*

ingredients (yields around 1.5kg of granola)

•800g rolled oats 

•600g trail mix/preferred dried fruits/nuts 

•1 + 1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce 

•2 tbsp honey 

•10 tablespoons cup-for-cup stevia or sweetener of choice (optional) 

directions
1. preheat oven to 180C (355F) 
2. in an extra, extra, extra large bowl (and i mean, very, very, very large. or, just split everything in two and use two big bowls) mix the oats, trailmix, and/or stevia/sweetener. 
3. mix in apple sauce and honey and mix very well, until the granola is sort of crumbly and there isnt big chunks of apple sauce left 
4. line a tray with foil/baking paper and spread the granola to make one layer (hint: you’re going to need more than one tray. i used 3 simultaneously) 
5. bake for 15 minutes, mix it around, switch the layer of the oven that you put the tray in so that ALL of the granola is evenly baked. it also prevents burning. repeat again until 45 minutes, and see if it crunchy enough. if it is not, bake for an additional 10 minutes. (warning: granola will be a bit less crunchy before it cools down) 
6. carefully take it out of the oven and let it cool. store in an airtight container and try not to eat everything in one sitting because it is actually very addicting 
 
*(one serving of this granola = 50g. one serving has around 200calories, compared to the 250+ calories from the store-bought granola we used to use!)
